Nearly thirty deaths involving motorized two-wheelers have occurred in the Alpes-Maritimes since the beginning of the year.
The situation is concerning. Yes, we need to make an impact, raise awareness. The public must be faced with this harsh reality. Too many lives have been shattered since the start of the year and could have been spared.
Motorized two-wheeler users are vulnerable road users. Nationwide, they account for 23.4% of fatalities but only 1.9% of traffic. The road is a shared space where everyone must act responsibly. No one can disregard the rules of the road code, which apply to everyone, drivers and motorcyclists alike.
The fight against road insecurity requires everyone’s involvement and participation: responsibility is shared. We all need to collectively wage war against road mortality… and do everything we can to win it. Drivers must behave as responsible adults.
For Quentin Matton, Director of G-ADDICTION Youth Citizenship, Winner of the 2019 Road Safety Innovation National Award, “As long as there are deaths and injuries on our roads, we will have to improve, change behaviors, and, for this, convey the basic rules of safe driving, especially to the young.”
