Striving for the ideal, that’s the theme of this 30th Book Festival and it holds many surprises for you. From October 6 to 8, Mouans Sartoux promises “a constant buzz, a continuous abundance over 3 days.”
The literature and comic book area, the café for beautiful and literary books, the youth space, the bookstall boulevard with its old books, the reading tents… will quench your thirst for literature!
To fulfill this year’s theme, Marie-Louise Gourdon, the commissioner of the Book Festival, will not stop there. She wishes to make the event popular. To reach all audiences, the festival has opened up to all forms of writing, be it cinema, theater, art, or music. Thus, the boulevard will become a pedestrian zone from 9:30 AM to 7 PM to make way for street art, cosplay parades, street dances and music, exhibitions… On the audiovisual side, you will be able to enjoy the cinema La Strada as well as the Château park where a large number of films, shows, and concerts will be offered: Les migrants ne savent pas nager, bébés sur mesure, Brook by Brook, Tempête! or even Frères Migrants… “It’s no longer the Mouans-Sartoux Book Festival but the Mouans-Sartoux Festival,” rejoices Mrs. Gourdon, smiling.
“Personalities who think about the world of today and tomorrow”
“We needed a theme that was up to the task. And we’ve been talking about progress, the future, and peace for years. Our quest is to strive for the ideal,” says the creator. To talk about an almost utopian ideal, great topics and current debates will be offered such as “Migrations, immigration, identities,” “The climate emergency,” or even “Writing is resisting, women’s words”… Marie Louise Gourdon promises themes “full of hope and optimism.”
For this writing celebration, you will be able to discuss the ideal with authors and filmmakers invited for the occasion: Lilian Thuram, Michael Lonsdale, Lola Lafon, Pef, or even Rayhana, Simon Brook, Jonathan Attias and many others. Four hundred quality guests are expected as they are chosen not for their success but “because they have things to say. They are personalities who think about the world of today and tomorrow,” explains the organizer.
