On loan from Barcelona, the young right-back Moussa Wagué arrived in Nice last week. Officially presented yesterday, the Senegalese player could be the right find for the Aiglons in this second half of the season.

An offensive right-back, the young player who arrived during the winter transfer window has already traveled well. Starting at KAS Eupen, he then joined Barcelona where he faced very tough competition.
Despite everything, he managed to play a few games, but his desire to play more pushed him to look elsewhere.
To accomplish this, the 21-year-old turned towards OGC Nice and Ligue 1. “The transfer went very well, I am very happy to be here in Nice. It’s a good project for me. There were other opportunities, but I chose Nice because it is a historic and ambitious club. The team is very young, which will make my integration easier. I really want to grow with the Club. I made the right choice.”
For Patrick Vieira, this is a new player adding strength to the squad. Decimated after Youcef Atal’s long-term injury, the right side of the defense was left vulnerable and might see Wagué as a potential strong recruit.
The coach explained this choice in a press conference “He is a flank player. He can play as a winger or a right-back” the technician detailed. “He has very good technical skills, can physically contribute in the offensive phase, track back defensively, and has a certain power, this is the profile we were looking for.”
Having come on as a substitute against Lyon, he is expected to be on the field again this week in the league. And could he possibly establish himself on the right side of the defense? He has, at any rate, a purchase option set at 10 million euros that might make the Nice directors think it over at the end of the season.
