Like every Wednesday, we meet to recap the movie releases of the week. Here is our selection to guide your choices towards the cinemas.
1. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom by James Wan
Jason Momoa returns to the cinema once again to play the sea hero Aquaman. In this new installment, Arthur must seek the help of his half-brother Orm to protect Atlantis against Black Manta, who has unleashed a devastating weapon in his obsessive quest to avenge his father’s death. How will he manage? Find out in the dark rooms.
2. Jeff Panacloc: In Pursuit of Jean-Marc by Pierre-François Martin-Laval
Jeff Panacloc and his puppet Jean Marc, the duo that has conquered millions of viewers, are making their cinematic debut! Jeff plays himself, naturally calm and a little naïve, who crosses paths with Jean-Marc, a plush monkey that has just escaped from a military base. The peculiarity: this plush toy… is alive. Jean-Marc, bold and uncensored, takes Jeff on a crazy adventure. Between chases, laughter, and wacky situations, nothing will go as planned!
3. The Settlers by Felipe Gálvez Haberle
The story takes place in the Republic of Chile in 1901. An immense, fertile territory that the white aristocracy seeks to ” civilize“. Three horsemen are hired by a wealthy landowner, José Menendez, to dispossess the indigenous populations of their lands and open a route to the Atlantic. Under the orders of Lieutenant MacLennan, a British soldier, and an American mercenary, the young Chilean mestizo, Segundo, discovers the cost of building a young nation, that of blood and lies.
4. Reserved Hunt by Frédéric Forestier and Antonin Fourlon
Thierry Lhermitte and Didier Bourdon share the screen with Hakim Jemili for a comedy as we love them. Adélaïde and Simon decide to leave their two-room apartment for a quieter and more comfortable life in the countryside with their two children. They are charmed by a house in nature: space, a vegetable garden, a wood next to their garden, and above all, villagers who welcome them with open arms. The dream! But the young couple will soon be disillusioned: the wood is actually a big game hunting ground. And although friendly, the hunters are not ready to give up their territory, turning Simon and Adélaïde’s rural dream into a nightmare. But our Parisians are not going to take it lying down.
5. Inspector Sun and the Curse of the Black Widow by Julio Soto Gurpide
To finish, we recommend an animated film that will delight both adults and our little ones. When a detective-spider boards a seaplane to head to San Francisco after finally capturing his arch-nemesis, a murder committed during his flight leads him to a conspiracy that threatens both the world of humans and that of insects. Sun, our detective, will have the heavy task of finding out who is the culprit of this heinous crime.
