Defeated in 2008 and 2014, Patrick Allemand will present himself for the third time to the voters’ judgment to become mayor of Nice.
He is no longer doing so as the candidate of the Socialist Party – of which he was the departmental secretary on the two cited occasions – but at the head of a “republican and citizen” list from his association (Nice at Heart) and with the support of the PS (departmental secretary Xavier Garcia will be number 3) and the “Macronist” ecologists of UDE.
During the presentation of his candidacy – yesterday late afternoon in the premises of his campaign headquarters (farewell to the Port, welcome to the Golden Square), he asserted its legitimacy [“many of you have told me that I was useful to the city and useful to the left” – he affirmed, addressing notably the radical leftists of the VIVA! list who rejected his call for unity by claiming they were the only left!] by the record of his activity as the main opponent of the outgoing Mayor and by the proposals that he will be carrying.
During the campaign, Patrick Allemand will address the “people of the left who exist indeed and the progressives too” and that “if they have deserted the parties, they have not given up their values”.
Will he be the one to achieve “the great alternation, awaited for 60 years in Nice?”
In any case, he strongly believes in it and his faith is undeterred: “In the tradition of the local right, Christian Estrosi took care of Nice and its tourist façade. We will take care of the women and men of Nice”.
