The outgoing mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, presented his security program as part of the 2026 municipal elections. On this occasion, he also unveiled two new running mates.
During a presentation dedicated to security, Christian Estrosi defended his record and his proposals for a new term. His project, titled “ROCH” and summarized by the slogan “Actions, not slogans“, is based on four pillars: results, field presence, cameras, and human aspect.
The outgoing mayor notably highlighted the increase in the municipal police force, which grew from 280 officers in 2008 to 600 today, as well as the development of video surveillance, with nearly 6,800 cameras installed in Nice.
Strengthening municipal police resources
Among the announced measures is the upcoming opening of the Police Headquarters, which will house nearly 2,000 officers. Three new specialized brigades are also set to be created, specifically for narcotics, senior protection, and hilly areas.
The candidate for re-election also wishes to increase the municipal police force to 1,000 officers and enhance training by establishing a dedicated school in Nice. The retention of neighborhood posts and the opening of two new sites are also planned.
Technologies, prevention, and campaign team
The project plans to accelerate the deployment of video surveillance with a target of 10,000 cameras and to develop the ” VigiNice ” application, allowing residents to alert municipal services. Measures also concern prevention, the safety of school establishments, and first aid training.
During this presentation, Christian Estrosi also announced the addition of two new running mates: Jean-François Ona, a former gendarmerie captain, and David Clarès, a departmental councilor.
In conclusion, the outgoing mayor advocated for a policy based on continuity and firmness, affirming his desire to continue his security measures if re-elected next March.
