Excluded from the second round but satisfied with the result, Philippe Vardon is already positioning himself for the future of Nice’s political landscape. An excerpt from his analysis and commentary on last Sunday’s vote.

If there is a surprise and progress to be noted in this election, it’s undoubtedly on our side. Two more weeks of campaigning or a few additional precious minutes of speaking time in the debates would undoubtedly have convinced the few hundred voters we needed to reach 5%.
Ms. Arnautu suffers greatly from the division she imposed on the patriotic camp. She achieves one of the lowest scores in the department for the FN, a very weak result considering the enormous “blue wave” observed nationwide. Despite this momentum, from which she probably benefited a little, she is almost 10% behind the result achieved by Marine Le Pen in the presidential elections, gathering 18,000 voters where Marine had united 38,000!
To match Marine’s 2012 result, it is simply necessary to combine the results of our list, that of Ms. Arnautu, and that of Jacques Peyrat! Those who refused bear the responsibility for the result of the outgoing deputy-mayor.
Today, the local political force that we embody, bringing together nearly 5% of voters and more than 5,000 people from Nice, is permanently inscribed in the political life of our city. These people from Nice count on us: we will not disappoint them!
