He had announced it. The electoral campaign objective of Philippe Vardon, who wants to be the “main opponent” of Christian Estrosi in the next Municipal Council, will be the “hunt” for the outgoing mayor. The first shot has been fired…
We now await the others, but also, and more importantly, some more constructive proposals. For criticizing and heckling political opponents is one thing, saying what one would do in their place is another, and it would give voters some tangible elements to make their choice.
Philippe Vardon explains: “These last two days, through the announcement of his measures for security in Nice or his supposed desire for a referendum on immigration in France, Christian Estrosi has outdone himself. Regarding security, Christian Estrosi – who, let us remember, announced 6 years ago that he wanted to make Nice “the showcase of security” – continues to want to install even more cameras whereas the “all-video” approach is a blatant failure. In perfect demagogue fashion, Christian Estrosi complains about “lax laws,” pointing the finger at Mrs. Taubira. He simply forgets that the laws currently in force are still those of the majority to which he belonged! This judicial leniency is what Christian Estrosi and his kind have allowed to persist and have even exacerbated. Christian Estrosi also complains about the lack of police personnel, especially at the Moulins police station. Yet it is also his majority that decided to reduce the number of police officers and gendarmes in our country, so he is responsible for it.”
A denunciation that the identity candidate concludes in line with recent events: “Even more serious in terms of political fraud, the call of Christian Estrosi – following the Swiss vote – for a referendum on immigration. Not that we would be against it… but how can one believe someone who can say this after having belonged to a government that brought ONE MILLION new immigrants into France between 2007 and 2012?”
Philippe Vardon thus accuses the outgoing mayor of going “all the way to the right”! But, according to him, only in speech, judging by the past 6 years showing that “in terms of action, the deputy mayor has not been as forceful as in his statements.”
