Robert Injey, the head of the Front de Gauche list in the Nice municipal election, continues, alongside his running mates and supporters, to illustrate his proposals with symbolic inaugurations. An original way to present his projects and “to highlight the contradictions of the outgoing mayor’s policies.”
After the inauguration of the virtual tram station at Ariane, the symbolic handover of the keys to the Bourse du Travail, the creation of “Espace St Roch” and the “Louvre in Nice” in the Palais Sarde, the fifth stage concerns housing, an issue he describes as dramatic.
As part of the operation “10 inaugurations for 10 projects,” Robert Injey had arranged to meet in the Gambetta district, specifically on Avenue des Fleurs, in front of a building belonging to the CROUS (Regional Center for University and School Works).
Robert Injey wants to “systematically preempt public domain land that becomes available to create social housing.” He refuses to see parts of the city go into private hands, believing that the current policy kills the future of Nice.
He states that Nice is “the laggard in social housing in France” but that this is “only a matter of political will.” His goal is to “resolve the housing crisis in Nice” and to create 2,000 social housing units per year. In the long term, his wish is for a decrease in land prices thanks to all these measures.
The mayoral candidate also discussed the establishment of a commission to define the allocation of social housing with clear criteria. He openly accuses Côte d’Azur Habitat of cronyism and lack of transparency in the distribution of social housing.
