Philippe Vardon presented his plan for the “reconquest and revitalization of the city center” alongside Valérie Delpech, who is in the second position on his list, to whom he will entrust – if elected – a new position of Deputy with the mission to “win the battle for the city center.”
This role of “super-deputy” will be a cross-cutting position involved in all areas – security, commerce, housing, cleanliness – in this sector, which is currently experiencing advanced impoverishment.
Former director of Marks & Spencer on Jean Médecin Avenue, Valérie Delpech has been very involved in the life and animation of the city center.
Philippe Vardon and Valérie Delpech presented the three pillars of their action for the heart of the city and the related measures:
Security and Cleanliness
– Creation of a Municipal Police post on Jean Médecin Avenue (including lost property, in particular).
– Foot patrols until the closing time of the last businesses, presence of the canine brigade.
Diversity of Commercial Offerings
– Audit of the commercial offerings on Jean Médecin Avenue and then the adjacent streets, both in terms of types of commerce and area.
– Action to restructure the offerings, encouraging with attractive leases and all available tools.
Accessibility and Parking
– Implementation of the Free Parking Account (according to the logic 1€=1min) for standard parking.
– 1 hour free at Masséna parking and Nice Etoile parking if purchases are made in a downtown store.
