A month after the murder of Emelindo, which occurred in Las Planas on Christmas Eve, the judicial police presented three suspects to the investigating judge. They have been placed in provisional detention.
On the night of December 24 to 25, Ermelindo Goncalves Fontes, 24 years old, was killed by a gunshot in the Las Planas district in Nice Nord.
On Sunday, three young men aged 21 and 22, one from Nice and two from Marseille, were presented to the investigating judge and then placed in provisional detention. According to Nice-Matin, the three suspects have been indicted for โmurder in an organized groupโ and โcriminal conspiracy to commit a crimeโ. Four other people were arrested last Friday but were released after a few hours in police custody.
Since the murder, the Nice judicial police have deployed significant resources to track down the group that came to Las Planas on Christmas Eve. Information quickly led the police to focus on a gang from Marseille known for drug trafficking and aggravated thefts.
Last Wednesday, the arrest that resulted in a death and following which a police officer was indicted for โinvoluntary manslaughterโ took place as part of the investigation into Ermelindo’s murder. The suspects had indeed been spotted on Rue de la Buffa.
