Music: A Tradition Revisited at the Chapel of the Holy Sepulchre

Latest News

Traditional music is at the heart of the holiday festivities in Nice. A Christmas concert, presented by the group Tri Alpini, will take place on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the Chapel of the Holy Sepulchre. This event is part of the effort to promote the musical heritage of the Nice region.

Local songs and instruments, such as the fife and diatonic accordion, will set the rhythm for the evening offered by the group Tri Alpini. This ensemble, originating from the Fifes and Drums of the Nice Region, presents a varied repertoire. It ranges from ancient music to modern arrangements. Traditional sounds will blend with contemporary instruments, such as the electro-acoustic guitar and the cajón, offering a new approach to Nice’s Christmas. This concert reflects a desire to renew and share local customs.

The Chapel of the Holy Sepulchre, located at Garibaldi Square, will host this event. Recently restored, it has been the seat of the Archconfraternity of the Blue Penitents since 1782. This association of laypeople, founded in 1431, is dedicated to promoting the culture of Nice while maintaining its charitable commitments. In addition to its religious role, the chapel becomes a cultural gathering place for residents and visitors.

Practical Information

The concert will begin this Saturday at 6 PM. Entry is open to all, providing a unique opportunity to discover or rediscover Christmas music from the traditions of Nice, the valleys, and the Alps.
