housseracket.jpgThe French band Housse De Racket impress with a second album of valiant pop songs, beefed up by the indispensable producer Philippe “Cassius” Zdar. 2011, a heroic year, and a great Battle of Alesia, the title of their new opus.

In 2008, France and the world discovered, under the name Housse De Racket, two eccentrics, Pierre and Victor, dressed as tennis players with a first album “Forty Love”, marked by the success of the little hit “Oh Yeah!”. After hundreds of concerts around the globe, the Parisian duo joined the Kitsuné label, known both for its sharp catalog and for its recipe for success (Two Door Cinema Club…).
“We started writing this album the day after Michael Jackson died. We were in a house in the south of France. We brought an organ with us, which became the common denominator of all the tracks. With Michael Jackson died a certain idea of pop and the greatest record seller in history. It was like turning a page, and we had to rewrite history, start from scratch.”
For Alesia, the French called upon the prolific producer Philippe Zdar, renowned for his way of turning whatever he touches into gold (we owe him Wolfgang Amadeus by Phoenix, but also for producing records for The Rapture and the Beastie Boys).
The band mixes various influences from new-wave, pop, and electro to concoct a danceable and airy cocktail. Their return in 2011 with their second pop album “Alesia” captures the rock energy of their concerts.
