The municipal and metropolitan councilor Patrick Allemand issued this statement:
As part of the French commemorative events, in memory of those who died for France, after the religious ceremonies at the Church of the Vow, the Grand Synagogue, and the Protestant Church, a tribute to Muslim soldiers will take place for the first time on November 6th at the Muslim section of the Eastern Cemetery.
I welcome this decision.
It has therefore taken 10 years to make the mayor of Nice understand that Muslim soldiers who died for France deserved, like all other soldiers, a fitting tribute in a cemetery or a monument and not in aโฆ public garden, as had been the case until now.
