Just two short months after its release for the Mouans Sartoux Book Festival, the first novel by Franck Viano, former editor-in-chief of Nice Premium and project manager at the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, has been selected to compete for the Orange Book Award.
At the starting line are fiction works written in French and published in France with big names such as Fred Vargas, Amélie Nothomb, Didier Van Cauwelaert, Fred Vargas, and Bernard Werber. “I am honored to be in this selection, especially after such a short time. Sometimes, life’s coincidences work out well, and I am fully enjoying this opportunity,” says Franck, surprised to find himself in the starting lineup of the 2013 edition.
For this is only the first step, as the list of 30 books selected for the final round will be announced on April 2, 2013. Then, on May 14, 2013, the 30 will become 5 for the final challenge, where internet users will vote for the 2013 Orange Prize from May 14 to June 2, 2013, with the results scheduled to be announced on June 6. “Being here is already a victory, and everything else will be a bonus. It’s a dream come true, and I am lucky to be able to talk about a city and a neighborhood that are close to my heart,” says the kid from the old city.
For now, it is your support that this first work by the author from Nice needs, and numerous comments have already poured in since yesterday on the book’s page. A small click of support and a little comment for those lucky enough to have already read it, and for others, head to Jean Jaurès Bookstore or visit his website.
