During the period of protest by the Nice branch of the family planning service to denounce the financial disengagement of the state, the Deputy Mayor of Nice had written to the Secretary of State for the Family, Nadine Morano.
In a letter dated February 19, 2009, the Secretary of State affirmed that the government would maintain its financial support for the activities of the French Family Planning Movement (MFPF):
“I confirm to you that, in total, in 2009, the State will allocate 3,461,800 euros to fund the actions of the MFPF at both the national and local levels. [โฆ] All this information should enable you to reassure the stakeholders and partners involved in the field of marital and family counseling in your municipality.”
This announcement will allow the Nice branch to continue its mission of welcoming, informing, and educating about sexuality, for women and men, young and old, of the municipality.
