The Cavigal Handball team emerged victorious in this Côte d’Azur derby against Antibes (29-28). They secure another win and continue to play a leading role.
After their victory last week against Istres, Cavigal traveled to their neighboring team of Antibes. The Nice-based team aimed to remain at the top of the standings. With this victory, they are at the top of group 6. The home team, currently in the middle of the pack, wants to gain points to get back into the race for the podium. Right from the start of the game, Romain Boveron’s teammates set a high pace and after 10 minutes, they led by five goals. They maintained this momentum throughout the first half, entering halftime with a four-goal lead.
An Intense Second Half
As the second half started, Cavi continued to lead the game, but the home team gradually closed the gap. The visitors’ lead dwindled like snow in the sun, and the match shifted in tone. Encouraged by the support of their fans, Antibes strongly believed in their chances of winning and put pressure on the leader.
