As part of the policy of integrating people with disabilities, the city of Nice is supporting the organization of the first National Accessibility Day by the association JACCEDE.COM

In Nice, dozens of volunteers are expected to roam the streets of their city in search of places accessible to people with reduced mobility and to raise awareness among shopkeepers about the importance of accessibility.

Thus, several officials will embark on a wheelchair tour along the Promenade des Anglais and the pedestrian zone to understand the difficulties faced by people with reduced mobility and the progress already made in Nice.

Access to education, transport, culture, leisure, consumption… Without accessibility, there is no social integration! So on October 8th, let’s mobilize for an accessible city!

Is a fitting room adapted in this store? Is the shower in this hotel room at ground level? Is this museum equipped with a hearing loop? For a person deemed able-bodied, these questions do not arise. Yet for a person with reduced mobility (people with disabilities, some seniors, parents with a stroller, pregnant women, etc.), they are essential and affect all aspects of daily life:

This First National Day aims to:

– Assess the level of accessibility of public establishments (Town Hall, post office, shops, restaurants, banks, etc.)

– Engage with shopkeepers and raise their awareness of the importance of accessibility

– Provide the public for free with information on accessible establishments through the website www.jaccede.com, available the same evening.
