Organized for the second time in Nice, this congress brought together more than 700 participants, including many directors of snow schools and instructors* from the Vosges, the Pyrenees, the Massif Central, and of course, the Northern and Southern Alps.
Why are ski instructors gathering so close to the Mediterranean Sea? Quite simply because 85% of the Metropolitan area’s territory is located in mountainous regions and it includes 7 out of the 14 ski resorts in the department, leading to a true mountain economy.
Incidentally, it was in 1927 that the first cable car was installed in Auron.
Yesterday morning at Acropolis in Nice, Christian Estrosi, Deputy-Mayor of Nice and President of the Nice Cรดte d’Azur Metropolis, opened the National Congress of Ski Instructors alongside Gilles Chabert, President of the National Union of French Ski Instructors.
In conclusion of this day, the Villa Massรฉna and its magnificent garden were the setting for the medal ceremony for graduates of the “Andrรฉ Tournier” class.
More than 400 new instructors, donning their famous “red sweaters,” were awarded. Among them were 13 from Nice.
