The National School Sports Day takes place this Wednesday, September 19. In schools, middle schools, and high schools across France, sports and recreational events (demonstrations, cross-country races, tournaments, athletics competitions) bring together students, their teachers, and their parents.
In the Alpes-Maritimes, large-scale events are also organized in the Raoul Dufy and Daudet middle schools in Nice, at the Parc Imperial middle and high schools in Nice, at the Les Eucalyptus high school in Nice, and for elementary students, in partnership with USEP, a sports festival in the morning with the Roquebilliรจre school and collective sports discovery workshops, multi-activity sessions in the afternoon at the Digue des Franรงais school in Nice.
Promoting the activities of school sports associations and federations to students, educational teams, parents, and the local sports community: these are the ambitions of the National School Sports Day.
It is part of the “Feel Sport” operation that brings together all sports federations for the occasion. Each association can organize events open to all in relation to this theme. The objective of this day is to promote school sports, to showcase the dynamism of its more than 2 million licensed students, and to attract new recruits.
This day marks the start of a week dedicated to sports at the beginning of the academic year, in collaboration with university sports federations, workplace sports, and the entire sports movement grouped within the French National Olympic and Sports Committee.
Thousands of students and teachers from the Nice academy gather on September 19 around sports and recreational events (demonstrations, cross-country races, tournaments, dance, climbing, athletics competitions, etc.) in schools all across France, including more than 180 middle and high schools as well as numerous elementary schools in the Alpes-Maritimes and the Var.
This year, the School Sports Day is part of the national “Feel Sport” operation, co-organized by the Ministry in charge of Sports, the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF), and the Association of French Mayors (AMF), to raise awareness among all audiences about the health benefits of sports.
