Latest News

Yesterday, Monday, Eric Ciotti, Deputy, President of the General Council of Alpes-Maritimes, presented the Nature Days at the Departmental Nature Park of the Grande Corniche – Maison de la nature in Eze.

More than 800 students from 19 middle schools in the department will participate in the Nature Days organized in the parks of Vaugrenier and the Grande Corniche, from May 13 to 17, 2013.

These actions, initiated following the terrible fires of 2003, aim to develop a real culture of risk and to make middle school students responsible for their behavior as citizens.

Discovery workshops organized by nature professionals Through field exercises, Force 06, the SDIS, Planète Sciences Méditerranée (PSM), the National Forestry Office (ONF), and agents from the Departmental Nature Parks (PND) will explain to the children the richness and fragility of natural environments and the importance of preserving them.

Thus, six workshops will be offered:

– Force 06: presentation of the fight against forest fires,
– PSM: allowing students to understand the dynamics of a forest environment by comparing three situations: before, during, and after the fire,
– SDIS: discovering the means of combat put in place and the behaviors to adopt in the event of a fire outbreak,
– Silviculture: discovering the missions of agents and the management of natural spaces,
– PND Animation Service: discovering the heritage, the specificity of the parks, and understanding eco-responsibility through games,
– Sustainable Development: participating in a debate to awaken, sensitize, and make middle school students react to the importance of being an actor in sustainable development, while explaining the behaviors to adopt daily.
