The Deck Hotel, a 4-star establishment located in the heart of Nice, invites vacationers and residents of the French Riviera to experience a unique summer. From June 1st to September 30th, 2023, the hotel’s walls will host the NCE PROJECT, an exhibition by artist Florian Levy offering a deconstructed and refreshed vision of the Nice postcard.
The artist Florian Levy…
Florian Levy, born in 1985, is an artist based in Nice who cultivates a rich artistic universe, blending photography, graphic design, and volume work. Although he trained in jewelry-making, he quickly developed an interest in art history and drawing, which is reflected in his creations. Since 2001, he has been self-taught in digital retouching, which has ultimately become his “trademark.”
Today, Florian Levy is mainly dedicated to developing his artistic expression, defining himself primarily as a creative. His minimalist graphic style is intensified by meticulous retouching and careful digital painting.
By exhibiting his works at The Deck Hotel throughout the summer, Florian Levy invites visitors to immerse themselves in his unique artistic universe. The photographs from the “NCE PROJECT” series will unveil a new facet of the city, transforming familiar landmarks into deconstructed architectural compositions where imagination and creativity meet.
…deconstructs the monuments of Nice on the walls of The Deck Hotel
Far from traditional clichรฉs, the NCE PROJECT revisits the iconic architectural symbols of Nice such as the blue chair, the palm trees, the paving of Place Massรฉna, and the Chรขteau waterfall. Thus, a dozen 100% made-in-Nice artworks will adorn the hotel’s walls. The city’s familiar monuments are distorted and reformed under the artistic gaze of Florian Levy, offering visitors an original and intriguing perspective on the capital of the French Riviera.
The NCE PROJECT series was initially created for the luxury tourist guide “Nice Code Ultimate Edition” in 2015. It now comes to life again at The Deck Hotel, just two years after Nice was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Among the exhibited pieces, a canvas marked “DECK” particularly attracts attention. The artist drew inspiration from the Niรงois pointu (a type of traditional fishing boat) to create this unique work, thus echoing the local symbolism of the hotel, whose decoration evokes a ship sailing in the Mediterranean.
The Deck Hotel has always had an affinity for visual arts and enjoys transforming its walls into an ephemeral gallery. In 2019, the establishment hosted an exhibition featuring a dozen photographers passionate about Nice. Then last summer, the committed artist Sylvian The Fishman made vacationers reflect with his paintings made from recycled waste found at sea.
Florian Levy’s NCE PROJECT promises to captivate art enthusiasts and the curious throughout the summer, inviting them to discover the city from an innovative artistic angle.
