FRIDAY, JANUARY 21 AT 9:30 PM at MJC PICAUD
23 Dr. Picaud Ave – Cannes
Gather the best instrumentalists in the region in their fields, blend this concentration of talent, sharing, and great musical generosity, and you have Nรฉuma. Producing rare and eclectic music, Nรฉuma is made up of the four best instrumentalists from the French Riviera. We all know them.
Starting with Alain Asplanato on drums, who is at the origin of the project. A regular with the Nice Jazz Orchestra or occasionally with the Nice Philharmonic Orchestra, he plays worldwide with big names such as Bireli Lagrene, Bob Mintzer, and Marcia Maria.
On bass, you will have the pleasure of hearing Tony Sgro, awarded by the Nice Conservatory, who frequently collaborates with various ensembles in the region.
On guitar, you’ll find Leo Giannola from the Caligagan Trio, who also dedicates himself to his own creations, and finally, Sebastien Chaumont on saxophone, who brings his touch of soul funk and jazz between concerts in London or Paris.
On stage, they are stunning. They remain attentive to each other while offering jazz enthusiasts a great lesson in performance.
Notably, Maceo Parker himself and his audience were enthusiastic when Nรฉuma had the honor of opening for him last November. Even those not familiar with jazz are won over by their compositions’ melodies, which remain accessible to everyone.
