New administrative setbacks for Stade Niçois

Latest News

Recently gathered, the amateur superior council of the DNACG made this decision due to a “negative net situation” of the club from the French Riviera and a “failure to meet the obligation to produce accounting and financial documents”.*

“If it accepts a recovery plan from the French Rugby Federation, Stade Niçois may end up in Federal 2 in 2019/2020. Otherwise, it will be Federal 3,” states the federal body’s communiqué.

It’s rather surprising considering that in October the club received 2 bonus points for good management during the ongoing championship. Good student this year, bad student last year?

The club reacted by admitting a deficit of 99,000 euros at the end of last season but remains “optimistic” about the future. An appeal will be filed.

It would be unfortunate if the brilliant sports results of the past few seasons were overshadowed by this financial blot. A few years ago, the club had already experienced judicial liquidation.

Question: Could the current management team not have avoided this new setback?

We can only wait for the decision of the Appeals Commission to learn more.
