New Blood at 109!

Latest News

Finally, there’s some action at the 109! On May 12th, 13th, and 14th, three eventful days will take place, focusing on artistic creation with concerts, exhibitions, theater, and many other cultural activities energizing this former industrial wasteland.

The oldest residents of Nice remember the slaughterhouses, the La Villette of the capital of the County, where the slaughtering of butcher animals supplied the butchers and charcutiers of Nice. The slaughterhouses have ceased operations, and the number of butchers and charcutiers is dwindling, suffocated by supermarkets.

The slaughterhouses had become an industrial wasteland, yet another in our country.

Since 2009, these former workshops of death have turned into centers of creativity, sites where cultural and artistic activities are manifold. Speaking of the 109 brings to mind the Belle de Mai in Marseille.

The 109 now hosts the Urbanism and Architecture Forum as well as numerous artist workshops across various disciplines. The 109, to open up to everyone’s curiosity, is organizing these three days in May to enlighten the public about its activities.

Public Lighting, the title is quite explicit. It is simultaneously an invitation to the residents of Nice to come and discover its activities during these three days. Three days to become enamored with the 109.

It all starts on May 12th with an opening at 5 PM, raising the curtain on an eclectic show, concluding on Sunday, May 14th at 6 PM. Three days of entirely free performances.

The 109 invites everyone to come and share this intense cultural moment.
