New civic service mission for the youth of the Unis-Cité association

Latest News

After a year of experimentation in three departments, the association Unis-Cité, in partnership with Enedis, is launching a Civic Service mission: the “Volunteers for Energy Transition” in the Ariane district of Nice.

This initiative is part of the national Civic Service Energy Transition, Climate, and Biodiversity program implemented under the leadership of the Ministry of Environment, Energy, and the Sea.

From November 2017 to April 2018, these 4 young Civic Service volunteers will channel their energy and motivation into raising awareness among the residents of Ariane in Nice about environmental issues.

These young people organize activities to help residents adopt eco-friendly practices and support volunteer families in their homes to help them manage their electricity, notably by properly using the new electric meters.

A program made possible by the involvement of many stakeholders:

  • The young volunteers, who, through their energy, commitment, and diverse backgrounds, send a message of optimism about their willingness and ability to act collectively in the service of others and the general interest – the association Unis-Cité, with its 23 years of experience in Civic Service, enables the mobilization and support of young volunteers.

  • Enedis, which through this program fully assumes its role as a societal actor and supports the engagement of youth

  • The state and the National Civic Service Agency, the main financer of Civic Service in France

  • All the stakeholders mobilizing locally to bring the program to life: the neighborhood associations, the city of Nice, the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, the prefecture’s services, and the social housing provider Côte d’Azur Habitat.
