New committee to fight fraud in Nice

Latest News

The exact figures are not known. However, scams do exist in the Alpes Maritimes. This is why the committee against social and fiscal fraud was created at the end of last year. “We will fight against all forms of fraud through a network,” stated Bernard Peiclier, Director of Fiscal Services of the Alpes Maritimes. Despite this announcement and the signing of the convention, the main actors do not wish to unveil important aspects of this new initiative, as they fear the repercussions it might have. Therefore, we will have to wait until next October to know the results and to learn more about the details of “the anti-fraud brigades.”

“It is not just another committee being added to an existing one.” It will define the priority procedures and actions aimed at improving the coordination of the fight against fraud. Thus, the organizations working in the field and the information gathered will be linked for greater efficiency. Among them are the CRAM, URSAFF, the family allowance fund of the Alpes Maritimes, and Pôle EMPLOI PACA.

Two missions

The committee, however, has two essential missions. The first is to coordinate surveillance means across the territory through the strengthening of internal control systems and the cross-referencing of computer files. The second action concerns more proposals for necessary improvements for a more effective and better-targeted anti-fraud fight.

Fraudsters thus have to be cautious. In these times of crisis, no mistakes will be tolerated. These can even cost up to €350,000 in fines and 5 years of imprisonment.
