In competition with airlines, SNCF has made the commercial decision to launch new low-cost lines (Ouigo) between Paris and the south of France from the Gare de Lyon.
With prices starting at 19 euros for adults and a fixed price of 8 euros for children, these trains can hold 1,268 passengers, which is 25% more than a classic double-decker TGV, and most importantly, according to SNCF, the equivalent of five Airbus A320 aircraft.
From less than 2 million travelers five years ago, Ouigo has transported nearly 13 million people this year.
