Christian Estrosi’s decision to bring the CEDAC back under municipal management sparked chatter because some interpreted it as a political move against Olivier Bettati, due to his close ties with the President of the managing association, who happens to be his wife.
Setting aside suspicions and other not always glorious considerations, the CEDAC will, as planned, fall under municipal control starting January 1st.
They will be incorporated into the city’s current Leisure Animation Centers (CAL), which will be expanded with 4 additional establishments, bringing the total to 19 municipal centers dedicated to leisure for all, now called: ANIMANICE.
This merger between the former CAL and CEDAC will provide a broader and more harmonized leisure offering throughout the city, creating a true territorial network of leisure services. The 19 Animation Centers and 5 Cyber Spaces are municipal facilities close to residents.
Spread across all the city’s neighborhoods and operating in a network, these meeting places weave a social link. They offer a rich program of sports and cultural activities and events intended for all audiences (children, teenagers, seniors, people with disabilities, students, working professionals, etc.).
Visitors can play sports, discover and partake in cultural activities, learn about computing and the Internet, and also attend shows, visit exhibitions, relax, have fun, and recharge alone or with family.
More than 120,000m² of facilities, activity rooms, outdoor spaces, and meeting areas will be open to everyone, year-round, across the municipality.
In a few figures: 19 centers, approximately 5,000 hours of activities and classes per week, and nearly 150 different disciplines.
