It was a beautiful day of festive and popular sports, a breath of fresh air for everyone who loves these gatherings where champions mingle with enthusiasts in a spirit of conviviality that warms the hearts and makes us hope that the joy of doing things together goes beyond the obligations of results. And how heartwarming it is to see competitors congratulating and embracing each other after the finish: everyone, in their own way, was a “winner.” The organization by ASO was always impeccable, with special mention for the speakers, Micel Honora and Gilles Rondoni, true “encyclopedias” of races!

It was under a shy yet present sun that the 12th edition of the Prom’Classic took place this Sunday, January 9, on the Promenade des Anglais.

The Prom’Classic once again broke all participation records with 6,100 registered, all united by a single goal: to complete these 10 kilometers.
For the men, it was the French athlete Abraham KIPROTICH who claimed first place in 29’13’’, thanks to his tenacity which proved fruitful.

Among the women, no further record despite the energy and persistence shown by Christelle DAUNAY, who won the victory in 32’46’’. Despite her efforts, she added two seconds to her personal best in the race (Editor’s Note: her previous record was 32’44’’, the Prom’Classic record since 2008).

The Mayor of Nice, Christian ESTROSI, improved his time by one minute, finishing in 49’31’’. His First Deputy, Benoît KANDEL, finished in 53’58’’.

Note the time of the oldest participant, Constantin GEORGEOPOULOS (born in 1928), who completed the race in 1h14’01’’.
