The summer cultural program of the Alpes-Maritimes promises to energize the region with over 500 free events. From June 23 to September 2, the Department offers a selection of concerts, performances, theater, dance, literature, and comedy.
This rich program is aimed at all audiences and contributes to the appeal of the 157 municipalities that will host these events. Among the highlights of the season, five must-see events have been announced.
The “Cap’sules des Soirées Estivales” return for their 3rd edition, showcasing artists from the “contemporary music” scene. Seven groups of local and national artists will perform throughout the department to share their world and latest tracks.
The “Festival des mots” will offer the public a moment of elegance and expression through 10 free events with renowned actors. From July 7 to August 26, these literary evenings will revive the tradition of transmitting great literary texts, with the participation of André Dussolier, Bruno Solo, Thibault de Montalembert, François Berléand, Alexia Stresi, Stéphane Freiss, and many others.
The “Soirées Jazz Art Lympia,” on the other hand, will transform the rooftop terrace of the Lympia cultural space at the port of Nice into an open-air jazz club. Every Thursday evening, from July 20 to August 31, an enchanting program will offer a unique musical experience, with artists such as Kevin Saura Group, Pierre Bertrand Quartet, and Jazz à Saint-Germain.
Finally, the “Folies des lacs” will enhance the magnificent landscapes of Mercantour with an unforgettable day of concerts on the shores of Lake La Colmiane, on Sunday, July 16, from 1 PM to 6 PM. Three concerts, interspersed with DJ sets, will delight families and young people, with the Chedid family headlining.
In parallel, major exhibitions will complement this eclectic and abundant offering. The region’s museums will host exhibitions such as “Vasarely from programmatic art to digital” at Espace Lympia, “Tattooing of the floating world” at the Museum of Asian Arts, “Out of Time” by Mathilde Oscar at the departmental Micro-Folie in Nice, and “Illuminate and Transport” at the departmental archives.
These major events demonstrate the solidarity of the Alpes-Maritimes Department in guaranteeing access to culture for all across the territory. As the main cultural partner, the Department continues its determination to bring the local fabric to life, supporting cultural players and affirming that the arts and culture are an integral part of its identity.
Charles Ange Ginésy, a fervent advocate for culture, emphasized the importance of these events:
“Culture is embedded in our region. Once again this summer, we offer an exceptional cultural program that contributes to our success and reputation. We are committed to supporting our artists and making our municipalities attractive during this summer period. These events are a splendid example of cultural solidarity and an economic development lever for the municipalities. The Alpes-Maritimes Department is the foremost cultural actor in the region.”
Thus, the public is invited to enjoy this summer season, where musical diversity and unique emotions will be present, thanks to an investment of 27 million euros for the promotion and development of culture in the region, including 1.7 million euros dedicated to the summer program. The Alpes-Maritimes Department thus demonstrates its unwavering commitment to making the arts and culture accessible to the greatest number of people.
