Handball: a bad streak for Cavigal

Latest News

The 7th day of National 1 once again was not prolific for Cavigal handball. Opposed to MHB’s reserve team, the Nice team had another fatal lapse.

โ€œNever two without threeโ€ โ€ฆ the saying proves true once again. Against Montpellier, Cavigal handball was defeated despite a good collective match. More effective offensively, MHB quickly gained the advantage. Led by Lucas Guigon, who scored 11 goals in the match, the Montpellier team quickly took a three-point lead. A lead that the locals would never manage to recover over the course of the match. Worse, the Nice team experienced another 10-minute lapse. The gap increased to +8. A scenario already repeated last week in Grenoble. And it’s going to be fatal once againโ€ฆ

Despite 11 saves by Maxime Aicardi, who was once again on point, Cyril Parmentelot’s men never closed the gap. Even though the exclusion of Montpellierโ€™s top scorer, Mathis Fischer-Becker, somewhat disrupted their attack, the visitors managed the end of the match. Baptiste Berettoni (6) and Romain Boivron (6) led the charge by scoring 12 goals between them, but it was too late. Nice reduced the deficit to four points against the Hรฉrault team and lost at the end of the match (28-32).

Despite a team reduced by injuries, Cavigal was valiant in the second half. Nonetheless, they’ll need to find a solution to avoid lapses if the red and blacks wish to play at the top of the table by the end of the season. With this new underperformance, Nice has dropped to 6th place in the rankings.ย

A reaction is expected in two weeks, on November 17, in Aix-en-Provence. Kick-off is scheduled for 2 PM. By then, Cavigal should recover some key players from its roster.
