Handball: Brest was too strong for OGCN.

Latest News

The Butagaz Energie League match between Brest Bretagne Handball and OGC Nice Côte d’Azur proved to be challenging for the Niçoises. The Breton team once again demonstrated their superiority (40-29).

A true test. That’s what awaited the OGCN handball team tonight at the Brest Arena. With a more than convincing start to the season, the Azuréennes had high ambitions before the match began. But Sébastien Mizoule’s players quickly had their hopes dashed.

From the first minutes, Brest showed clear dominance, relying on an incisive attack and solid defense. Despite the efforts of Gordana Mitrovic and Marie-Hélène Sajka for Nice, Brest managed to widen the gap starting from the 10th minute. The Brestoises capitalized and maintained a comfortable lead. At the end of the first half, the score was (21-14) in favor of the home team.

Brest didn’t let up

Returning from the locker room, Brest continued to set their pace, widening the gap even further. Clarisse Mairot particularly stood out with a total of seven goals, including four scored on penalty, while Juliette Faure added six goals to her personal tally. On the Nice side, Marie-Hélène Sajka remained the main offensive force with eight goals. Marine Dupuis also contributed with five goals, including four on penalty. Despite their persistence, the Niçoises were unable to close the gap against a well-organized and efficient Brest team.

In the end, the score was heavy (40-29), but not illogical. In an intense match, Brest confirmed their superiority with a remarkable collective performance. Despite good combative efforts, OGC Nice couldn’t compete throughout the duration of the match. This victory allows Brest to reclaim its position as leader of the Butagaz Énergie League. The Aiglonnes remain in the top 5 before hosting Stella Saint Maur on Wednesday evening at 8:30 PM.
