Today the Eagles of Nice faced Gap in a highly important match that could allow them to reach the play-offs.
This 44th day of the Magnus league is the last of the season. It is extremely important for our Eagles. With a victory, they had the chance to move up to 8th place in the standings, which could allow them to play in the Play-offs. The pressure was therefore significant, but tonight’s opponent was largely within Nice’s reach.
The Raptors start the match at full speed. They press the Eagles’ defense and are very dangerous on several occasions. The aggressiveness of the Gap team surprised the Nice team, who manage to recover from the 10th minute of play. The Eagles put pressure on the Raptors and gradually manage to repel the attackers. Finally, Nice scores in the 15th minute with a superb goal by Luka Kalan. The first period thus ends with a lead for Nice!
Slowly but Surely
The match resumes slowly, and both teams struggle to find an opening. The score does not change while time keeps passing. The Nice team shines with their defense, really preventing the Raptors’ attacks. After a complex period to unravel, the Nice team scores their second goal in the 39th minute, signed by Ondrej Kopta. The second period thus allows the Eagles to widen the gap a bit and gradually move towards this qualification for the Play-offs.
The third and final period turns out to be a repeat of the second. The puck goes back and forth between the goals, but never goes in. The Gap team fails to gear up and allows the Eagles of Nice to score 20 seconds from the end due to a monumental mistake. Nice thus leaves with the 3-0 victory and the place in the play-offs.
