From September 12 to November 12, 2024, Hรดtel Le Splendid in Nice is hosting the exhibition “OTHER WORLDS”. This artistic gathering, orchestrated by the START Collective, brings together six artists who, through their works, invite us to explore imaginary worlds where fantasy, mythology, utopia, and transformed reality intertwine. An immersive experience for art lovers and those interested in contemplating the beyond of the tangible world.
The “OTHER WORLDS” exhibition, held at the Hรดtel Le Splendid in Nice, offers a unique artistic escape from September 12 to November 12, 2024. Six artists from the START Collective: Nathalie Broyelle, Gilbert Casula, Alain de Fombelle, Rรฉgine Lauro, Richard Pellegrino, and Serenella Sossi. They present works where the boundaries between the real and the imaginary dissolve. Each of them offers a personal vision of an “other world”, a dive into universes that are sometimes mystical, sometimes futuristic, always fascinating.
Between imagination and reality, each artwork encourages the viewer to rethink our world, to question what exceeds it or what it could become.
Art as a Bridge to Other Worlds
The artists of START transport us to unexplored territories, where art allows us to travel between various universes. Whether through painting, sculpture, or mixed techniques, the creations on display provide a reflection on the theme of otherness and imagination.
Creating an “other world” means offering new forms, new colors, new perspectives. It is also a way to renew our relationship with the real, to reinvent humanity through art. This exhibition thus poses a central question: How can art become a means of reinvention of the world and our existence?
Visions of Other Worlds: Six Artists, Six Universes
Nathalie Broyelle presents her series “Apparition”. She offers paintings with dark tones where celestial silhouettes float. These figures include aquatic animals, angels, and deities, in homage to Creation. Her work explores lightness and softness, embodying a feminine and spiritual universe.
Gilbert Casula presents works where reality meets science fiction. His painting of the owl, symbolic and enigmatic, merges nature and technology, creating a disturbing parallel with a near future where humans could transform.
Alain de Fombelle shows us his world of Marmouilles, extraterrestrial beings he imagined in 1993, intelligent and active, far from the usual stereotypes. His creatures with sleek designs are in perpetual motion, embodying a universe in search of evolution.
Rรฉgine Lauro’s delicate and colorful works paint a utopian world, filled with flowers and joy. Lauro offers us a paradisiacal, sweet, and comforting vision, like an Eden lost in a sometimes dark world.
Richard Pellegrino uses a technique combining the recovery of altered posters and the creation of hybrid silhouettes, half-human, half-animal. He thus represents the turmoil of our era. His works question the individual in the face of social and environmental transformations.
The interpretation of the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice presented by Serenella Sossi plunges us into an exploration of life and death. The opposition between light and darkness symbolizes the struggle between hope and despair, the passage between two worlds โ that of life and that of the beyond.
Art, an Infinite Journey
The โOTHER WORLDSโ exhibition goes beyond art to propose a reflection on the meaning of existence. It explores invisible worlds. Each work invites us to explore and imagine what might exist beyond our tangible reality. They encourage us to question these possibilities. The artists of the START Collective offer alternative visions of the world. They remind us that art allows us to travel differently. With art, we explore space, time, and imagination uniquely.
