Magnus League: Nice Thrashed at Home by Grenoble

Latest News

For the 12th day of the Ligue Magnus, the Nice Eagles faced off against an old acquaintance, Grenoble. A return match that went awry…

The Eagles and the Brûleurs can’t seem to stay apart. Two clashes in less than a week was the schedule for the two teams. If the last two encounters (on the 2nd and 25th days) went in favor of Grenoble, the saying “never two without three” proved true once again tonight.

And the least we can say is that the suspense was quickly annihilated. By the 4th minute, Nicolas Deschamps managed to deceive Conrad Molder. The Nice goalkeeper would have a nightmarish experience. Despite making 11 saves in the first part of the game, he conceded three more goals. First by Damien Fleury, who had scored just five days ago. Then Adel Koudri added to the tally, and finally Christophe Boivin, one of the top scorers in the Ligue Magnus, wrapped up the Grenoble offensive festival in the first period (0-4).

The match turns into a demonstration

Nice did try to recover but Matija Pintaric postponed the deadline. The Eagles ended up being caught by surprise again. Nicolas Deschamps scored his second goal, and then François Beauchemin extended the score to (0-6).

The final period eventually saw the Nice team salvage some pride. Daniels Berzins managed to score a token goal, given the heavy score. In front of 1,200 supporters, the Nice Eagles were defeated (1-8). It was the heaviest defeat the Azuréens have suffered this season.

No time to procrastinate as the Eagles will continue their hectic season on Sunday against Briançon. A victory at home is imperative this Sunday at 8 PM.
