The Lascaris Palace, located in the heart of Old Nice, is hosting a new exhibition from April 15 to September 25, 2023. The works of the artist Odon will be featured in “odon, baroque metamorphosis.”
This exhibition brings together more than 60 recent weavings and drawings. The artist’s latest works perfectly harmonize with the architecture of the Lascaris Palace. Hanging in mid-air, the weavings conform to the lines and volumes of the architecture, contributing to an atmosphere rich in movement and color, elements characteristic of the baroque style.
Guy Houdoin, known as Odon, is a visual artist who graduated from the fine arts schools of Tours and Paris. He used paper in his early expressionist and colorful paintings and then created sculptures of woven paper, which brought him notoriety.
It is not by chance that his works are regularly exhibited in historic venues with strong architecture, such as churches, abbeys, abbey churches, castles… They evoke an aesthetic but also spiritual and sometimes mystical emotion.
