The Aiglonnes won (29-26) against Stella Saint Maur. Clément Alcacer’s team temporarily moves up to sixth place in the championship.

As part of the eighth day of the Butagaz Energy League, OGC Nice Handball hosted the girls from Stella Saint Maur. The red and black team were looking for a victory to break the bad streak they were going through. Indeed, they had suffered three consecutive losses in the championship.

The match started well for the home team, who played with intensity and disciplined attacks. With a six-goal lead by the middle of the first half, OGCN made a strong start and gained a comfortable lead. Ehsan Abdelmalek’s teammates were ahead from start to finish and led at halftime (16-13).

A tighter second half

Right from the outset of the second half, the Nice team scored four goals in a row to regain a seven-goal lead. The visitors didn’t give up and tried to respond as best they could. The Stellistes held on to the high pace imposed by their evening adversaries. They even managed to get closer and reduce the gap to three goals.

By the end of the match, they managed to catch up to within two goals, putting pressure on the Aiglonnes. But the home team had learned from their mistakes and didn’t falter at the end of the match. They held firm and won (29-26). A victory that is a relief for the players, breaking the recent series of defeats.

The next appointment for Clément Alcacer’s team is on October 31 on the field of the Bretons from Brest. In the meantime, they will savor the victory and perhaps finally build some momentum in the championship.
