The CAPRE 06 association filed an urgent appeal for freedom to the administrative court of Nice to halt the [destruction of Acropolis](https://www.nicepremium.fr/actualite/la-destruction-dacropolis-a-debute-aujourdhui/). The response came yesterday.
CAPRE 06, a Collective Association for Ecological Realizations in the Alpes-Maritimes, was founded in 1992 from several geographical dynamics focused on environmental defense.
The destruction of Acropolis, which began in March, continues to [spark debate](https://www.nicepremium.fr/actualite/acropolis-le-tribunal-administratif-rejette-une-suspension-de-permis-de-demolition/). Indeed, the environmental defense association filed an urgent appeal asking for the cessation of the deconstruction work of Acropolis. CAPRE 06 argues that its deconstruction will cause the imminent and irreversible loss of bats, reptiles, and protected birds, as well as their habitats. Ecologists have conducted studies on the presence of protected species in this building, but were unable to verify these facts because they had not been able to fully access the interior of the site.
Reviewed this Wednesday afternoon, the verdict was delivered yesterday. The urgent appeal filed in an attempt to prevent the demolition of the Acropolis congress center in Nice was rejected by the administrative court.
The Administrative Court once again sided with the City of Nice. According to them, the demolition is part of “a greening project for a highly urbanized area and that the extension of the Promenade du Paillon would be favorable to biodiversity and therefore to the conservation and development of these species that will benefit from the green spaces.” They added that according to the ecological assessment established by the City of Nice, “the impact of the demolition on the concerned protected species would be low and there was no characterized risk of harm to bats, reptiles, and birds.”
