The Alpes-Maritimes department is planning numerous events for residents over 55. Enrollment for the “Seniors in Action!” activity program for the second semester is now open.
Travelers, sports enthusiasts, cinema buffs, or nature lovers, there are many possibilities for seniors to enjoy themselves in the Alpes-Maritimes. The program for โSeniors in Action!โ for September to December has been unveiled. As part of a โaging wellโ policy, this program has been implemented since 2012 and includes a variety of activities for those over 55.
The department is committed to offering a wide range of leisure opportunities at the most affordable prices for its seniors. The aim is also to โprevent isolationโ and to โdevelop social connectionsโ.
โThis program will delight the 30,000 seniors from the region enrolled in the ‘Seniors in Action!’ program, offering the best opportunities for relaxation, exploration, camaraderie, and sharing,โ promises Charles Ange Ginรฉsy, president of the Alpes-Maritimes department.
A Rich and Diverse Program
Enrollment for activities is open from today. Registration can only be done by phone through the departmental senior centers, the House of the Alpes-Maritimes in Nice, and the Department Houses.
For the last four months of the year, seniors can attend the World Magic Festival as part of the departmental senior day at the Palais Nikaรฏa, on Friday, September 22.
Excursions are organized to further explore urban and natural heritage in Nice, starting September 12. For those seeking more adventure, day trips are available. Destinations include the creeks of Cassis, the Gorges du Verdon, or the Italian Riviera.
Starting September 13, every Wednesday morning, choir practice resumes at the Laure-Ecard space. It is also where practices for the 9th edition of the โDance with Seniorsโ departmental contest will take place. The complex also offers a theater program with five free shows.
For those with an insatiable thirst for culture and knowledge, the Departmental Museum of Asian Arts, Espace Lympia, the digital museum at 26 rue Saint-Franรงois-de-Paule, and the House of Artificial Intelligence in Sophia-Antipolis offer tours and workshops.
While Awaiting the New Season
To keep busy while waiting for September and its many activities, this summer, seniors have some entertainment options offered by the Department. Jean-Paul Belmondo Cinema in Nice hosts screenings for 2.50 euros every afternoon at 2 p.m. from Monday to Friday.
For those who enjoy dancing, the Palais des Rois Sardes opens its doors every Saturday from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. for dance afternoons. This offers a chance to share a convivial moment with ballroom dances and more. The ball is free with reservation. Entry starts at 2 p.m.
For dance events, cinemas, and theaters, you can enroll from the first Tuesday of the month for the following month’s events.
A Trip to Catalonia or the Gers?
