In response to the devastation caused by Cyclone Chido in Mayotte, the Alpes-Maritimes Department is mobilizing an exceptional aid package of โ‚ฌ100,000. This decision will be submitted to a vote at the next departmental assembly.

On December 14, Cyclone Chido struck Mayotte, leaving a landscape of desolation in its wake. Tin houses were blown away, electrical poles were knocked over, and trees were uprooted. The human toll is already severe and could worsen.

Charles Ange Ginรฉsy, President of the Alpes-Maritimes Departmental Council, reacted quickly. He announced a package of โ‚ฌ100,000 to support the reconstruction of the territory. This aid will be submitted to a vote at the next departmental assembly.

In his statement, Charles Ange Ginรฉsy expressed his solidarity with the people of Mayotte. He extended his thoughts to the victims and praised the actions of the security and emergency services mobilized on site.

A surge of solidarity in the face of disasters

The President of the Department also assured Ben Issa Ousseni, President of the Mayotte Departmental Council, of his โ€œfull support and that of the entire departmental community in the face of this disaster and heeds his call for unity and solidarity for reconstruction.โ€

This gesture is part of a solidarity logic among French communities. โ€œDuring the worst tragedies, the Alpes-Maritimes Department has always received solidarity from the departments and communities of France and will always show solidarity to territories in need,โ€ reminded Charles Ange Ginรฉsy.

As climate disasters become more frequent, he also emphasized the importance of staying mobilized in the face of these challenges. The vote on this exceptional aid will mark a concrete gesture to support Mayotte during this ordeal.
