This Tuesday, November 14, the mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, accompanied by Anthony Borré, announced the creation of a European network of local police forces.
As early as 2010, with the launch of the first video surveillance complex in France, the city of Nice stood out in urban security. Since then, numerous security measures have contributed to equipping the Azurean capital. “SOS” terminals, mobile stations, creation of new police stations, use of artificial intelligence, all means are good to ensure the safety of the metropolitan residents. Proposed to the executive committee of the European Forum for Urban Security (EFUS), this initiative aims to give greater visibility to local police forces.
With a funding amount of two million euros, 90% financed by the European Commission until 2025, PACTESUR2 is a true European cooperation project. The city of Nice thus stands alongside Madrid, Turin, and Liège.

This project aims to highlight collaboration between municipal and local police forces. In concrete terms, the city of Nice will receive more than 650,000 euros in grants. This amount is intended to create new training areas at the Beltrame Center. Additionally, it will help equip the Nice municipal police with new tools.
Christian Estrosi finally highlights the dual importance of this project. According to him, this European cooperation project is an opportunity for both elected officials and officers. Indeed, the goal is to share best practices and feedback to directly improve performance in the area. « It’s unique because it’s the first time that inter-police cooperation takes place at the local level. Until now, it has only happened at the state police level. » the mayor of Nice finally noted.
