The City of Nice is implementing new measures to reduce the waiting times for identity cards and passports.

This morning, Christian Estrosi presented new measures aimed at reducing wait times for obtaining identity documents. This initiative aims to improve user service and respond to growing demand, particularly on the eve of the summer holidays.

Among the announced measures is the implementation, starting next week, of a system offering 320 daily appointments, or 210 additional appointments, at the Annexe site of the City Hall, within the Corvรฉsy building. These new slots will offer more opportunities to users, thereby reducing wait times.

Concrete improvements for better efficiency

To reach the goal of 320 daily appointments, several measures are being implemented within the Corvรฉsy Building. First, 15 counters dedicated to identity documents will be equipped with biometric stations, ensuring rapid and accurate processing of requests. Additionally, a walk-in counter will be available for quick administrative procedures such as civil status certificates, record updates, and family booklet duplicates.

Opening hours will also be extended, moving from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, to an extended schedule from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday. Two counters dedicated to collecting identity documents will eliminate the need for specific appointments for this step, simplifying the process for users. Subsequently, a telephone platform consisting of 10 agents will be set up for appointment scheduling, with a dedicated number (04.97.13.54.54) and options to better direct the public.

Reinforcement of agents and priorities for existing appointments

To ensure a better user experience and honor all appointments, 14 additional agents will be deployed in addition to the team already present at the Corvรฉsy site. Furthermore, the 10,000 users who already have an appointment will be considered a priority. They will receive an SMS from 2 PM today, offering to advance their appointments with available slots from June 14.

Reduced wait times thanks to a national commitment

Current wait times for obtaining and submitting an identity document are extended throughout France, and the City of Nice is not exempt. In 2022, the number of submitted applications reached 80,695, including 38,701 identity cards and 41,994 passports. Confronted with this growing demand, the Ministry of the Interior and Overseas Territories has reinforced and amplified the measures of the national emergency plan developed last summer.

A temporary center and a committed approach

The City of Nice immediately joined this national emergency plan by opening a temporary reception center for identity documents, equipped with 10 additional biometric stations. This initiative makes Nice the only municipality in the department offering such a system and the second in the Provence Alpes Cรดte d’Azur region.

Moreover, participation in this plan will allow the City of Nice to earn the “committed city hall” label and prepare for a more comprehensive and developed labeling process in 2024.

How to benefit from these new measures?

Users who already have an appointment will be contacted as a priority via SMS to advance their appointment with available slots from June 14. New applicants can schedule an appointment and fill out the pre-application form directly on the City of Nice website (nice.fr) or via a QR Code available at the entrance of each annex city hall.

For the collection of identity titles already submitted at Corvรฉsy, it will no longer be necessary to schedule an appointment. Two dedicated counters will facilitate the collection process.

The urgent operation also includes two other components: connecting to the national online appointment platform offered by the National Secure Documents Agency and the subscription to “emergency documents contracts” with the Prefecture, aiming to increase the total number of document requests by at least 20% compared to the beginning of the year.
