From February 12 to March 2, 2025, the city of Nice will be alive with the rhythm of its annual Carnival. Under the theme of the oceans, the event promises a journey blending tradition and creativity.
The Nice Carnival 2025 celebrates this year the theme of the “King of the Oceans.” With its parades, workshops, and artistic installations, the event will highlight the richness and beauty of the marine world. This edition coincides with a significant moment for the city: the organization of the third United Nations Ocean Conference, scheduled for June 2025.
The program promises to be extensive. Starting February 12, the Grand Charivari of Richelmi will open the festivities in the Riquier district. Visitors will then be able to enjoy numerous activities. It will be possible to witness the traditional illuminated carnival parades and the famous Battles of Flowers. These events, combining decorated floats, international troupes, and music, will take place between Place Masséna and the Promenade des Anglais. A nighttime scenography will add a magical touch to the celebrations.
An Ode to Tradition and Innovation
The Carnival village, located on the Promenade du Paillon, will be open for free. From February 15 to March 2, this gathering place will offer creative workshops, shows, and activities around the marine theme. Children will be able to enjoy unique rides like the pedal-powered “Petit Clapotis du Grand Large,” or the “Manège Salé,” where they can ride turtles and flying fish.
Among the novelties, Christian Estrosi announced “the organization, on the afternoon of February 15, before the first corso, of a large, festive, and free popular parade: La Carnavalin. The Carnavalin is the Carnival virus. A virus that spreads joy, smiles, and treats, making you wildly want to celebrate.”
Regarding the seating capacity during the different corsos, it will increase from 22,000 to 25,000 spectators. The Nice Carnival is an institution that combines modernity and cultural heritage. In 2024, nearly 230,000 spectators attended the festivities. The event generated more than 35 million euros in economic benefits.
This year, organizers hope to exceed this success with numerous new features to be revealed soon on the website. Options for refundable tickets and live immersions on social media are geared toward better accessibility for the people of Nice. This topic has sparked debate in recent days, and we will revisit it over the weekend.
All practical information, including the full program, is available on the official Nice Carnival website.
