On Saturday, May 17, the women’s Torball team from Nice finished as the D1 French runners-up in an intense day organized in Monaco. The event, the first of its kind in the Monegasque territory, brought together five teams in a friendly and committed atmosphere.

The Saint Antoine ZAC Gymnasium in Monaco hosted a para-sport championship for the first time. The CICAM and ANICES jointly organized this D1 Women’s Torball French Championship. From Friday, volunteers and organizers mobilized to set up the field and welcome the teams under the best conditions.

Teams from Clermont-Ferrand, Laval, Marseille, Nantes, and Nice gathered on the field on Saturday morning. The competition was officially launched in the presence of Philippe Mirza, president of the CICAM, and Sรฉbastien Filippini, also the coach of the Nice players.

Angรฉlique, Clarisse, Mรฉlanie, and Sandrine played the matches with determination. Nice won its first three matches: 9 to 7 against Laval, 11 to 4 against Marseille, then 11 to 3 against Nantes. However, in the last match, against Clermont-Ferrand, the team was defeated 9 to 5.

This defeat deprived the Niรงoises of the national title. With six points, they finished in second place behind Clermont-Ferrand, who totaled seven points.

A great collective dynamic

On an individual level, the Nice players showed great offensive efficiency. Mรฉlanie scored 12 goals, Sandrine 11 goals, Clarisse nine goals, and Angรฉlique four units. After the matches, players, volunteers, and organizers gathered for a closing dinner. The service was provided by people trained in welcoming people with disabilities, as part of a partnership with the company Cรฉcisens.

Beyond the rankings, this day highlighted the practice of Torball and strengthened ties between the clubs. An initiative that could inspire others on the Rock.
