For a few days now, the driver from Grasse, Théo Pourchaire, has been testing in Indianapolis to continue the season with the Arrow McLaren team in Indycar.
Having been in the United States for a few weeks, Théo Pourchaire, currently engaged in SuperFormula in Japan, is at risk of being permanently transferred to Indycar, which would require him to terminate his contract with the Itochu Emex Team Impul team. It’s a championship in Super Formula where he experienced many disappointments during the first race.
Being in Indianapolis, Théo Pourchaire replaced driver David Malukas of Arrow McLaren. The American driver has been out since the start of the season due to a wrist injury sustained in mid-February during a mountain biking outing. However, since April 29, Arrow McLaren has announced the termination of the contract with David Malukas, who would be out until the end of the 2024 Indycar season. More fulfilled in Indycar, for his very first race, the driver from Grasse finished in 11th position and first Rookie on the Long Beach street circuit.
A second French driver?
For his second race at the Barber Grand Prix, Théo Pourchaire delivered a remarkable performance over 90 laps. Unfortunately, just two laps from the end, the driver from Grasse did not finish the race, placing 22nd. A slightly more mixed second Indycar race, but the driver from the French Riviera did not let it get him down. Still in the United States and following the announcement of David Malukas’s withdrawal, Théo Pourchaire is conducting various tests with the Arrow McLaren team. Perhaps to permanently replace David Malukas for the 2024 season?
Still under contract with the Formula 1 Stake F1 Team, formerly Alfa Romeo, as a reserve driver. Would this not complicate matters between the two teams, as well as the different sponsors? In any case, we hope to see him driving on our screens soon.
