Latest News

This Saturday, April 2, 2011, from 10 AM to 6 PM at Albert 1st Garden and Masséna Square, the first “Fitness Day” will take place with the objective of raising public awareness about the benefits of physical activity for health. Stéphane Diagana, double world champion in athletics and ambassador for the physical activity section of the PNNS (National Nutrition Health Program), is the patron of the event.

On the occasion of “Fitness Day,” everyone (children, youth, and adults, whether sporty or not, amateurs or professionals) is invited to join in for special exchanges with sports and health experts.

It is organized by the Nice Côte d’Azur Athletics Club, in partnership with the city of Nice, the Alpes-Maritimes General Council, the PACA Regional Council, Adidas, Caisse d’Epargne, and Vision Future, and supported by the French Athletics Federation – leading the European project “European Fitness Days” aimed at supporting awareness operations on the theme of sports and health.

Thus, the public will be able to participate in:

– sessions for evaluating physical condition (Forme Plus Sport test),
– introductory sessions and outings of Nordic walking,
– athletics discovery sessions for 4 to 12-year-olds,
– VMA tests (assessment of running level).

More than 100 volunteers and around fifty professionals will be present at the “sports, fitness, and health” information village to coach, advise, and inform the public.

Additionally, ahead of this “public” day, activities, including physical fitness assessment tests, are offered from Monday, March 28, to Friday, April 1, 2011, in primary school classes, Port Lympia College, and Pasteur High School in Nice.
