Nice Premium: What do you think about Nice’s bid to host the 2018 Winter Olympics?
Laurent Merengone: Hosting the Winter Olympics in Nice is an incredible opportunity for our city and for the entire French Riviera. It would be a real shame to miss out on this chance that has presented itself to us! The jobs created and the economic impact that will stem from this global event will be unlike anything the region has experienced so far.
The potential of our city is multifaceted: international airport, large-capacity hotel facilities, sunny and snowy ski resorts, and a motivated team to make this project successful.
Nice Premium: In your opinion, what will this event bring to Nice and its region?
Laurent Merengone: The French Riviera is a place where events carry great value due to the quality of the climate and its landscapes. Hosting the Olympics in Nice would crown our city as the capital of the French Riviera and also of the Mediterranean!
