It was with joy and good cheer that he supported the candidacy of Nice for the 2018 Olympic Games. “I am very proud to display the Nice 2018 logo beneath my banner,” he continued. Already partnering with Handisport, the Lions members naturally found it fitting to associate with Nice in this endeavor.
“The Lions took the initiative to gather 1,000 signatures. It makes us realize that Nice plays an important role in bringing people together,” commented Christian Estrosi, Deputy Mayor of the city of Nice. “The Lions have taken the initiative to bring together 1,000 signatures. In eleven days, Nice will know if it will be part of the Olympic journey; if so, the next step will be to represent France in 2011. Christian Estrosi truly believes in it, “Nice is the only one that gives France a slight chance of victory,” he commented.
If the Olympics are about the values of sport serving the people, Nice, according to the Deputy Mayor, is about value serving France: “The question we need to ask is: what can Nice bring to France?”
Last September, only 51% of the people in Nice believed that Nice could host the Olympic Games, but today more than 81% believe it. So, everything is still possible for the Azuréenne Capital.
