The end of summer vacation rhymes with going back to school! This year, the Ministry of Education decided to innovate by proposing a musical return to school.
The idea is simple: have former students welcome new arrivals with a song. The goal is to facilitate the integration of newcomers into their future middle school life. A concept that appealed to the teenagers of Henri Matisse Middle School, gathered in the schoolyard.
In the presence of Cédric Roussel, the deputy of the 3rd constituency of Nice, accompanied by Marie-Hélène Aubry, the academy inspector, the students had the chance to share a moment of conviviality. Supervised since June 20 by the teaching staff, the volunteers worked throughout much of the vacation.
And suffice it to say, they didn’t do things halfway!
More than 45 minutes of show featuring covers of well-known songs like Shakira’s famous “Waka Waka,” performed by four young musicians and about twenty enthusiastic choristers, who managed to delight their audience. A real success for the deputy who wished to highlight “the work accomplished in a very short time.” “It’s always a great pride to see that we engage people and that they come to see what we do in our daily routine,” explains Ms. Frontoni, the principal of the middle school.
“It is a symbolic measure that is not at all a gimmick, but should help recreate a bond between the students and the teaching staff to start the school year off on the right foot,” explains Cédric Roussel, visibly pleased with the operation’s success. For the academy inspector, “it contributes to good humor and respect between those who perform and those who listen, and above all, it brings joy among the students.”
Thus, this is an operation that is intended to endure in the long term within the French educational heritage. Looking forward to the next school year!
